The most famous beaches in Mykonos
Mykonos is known for its many beautiful beaches, which are among the most sought after in Greece.
The most famous Mykonos beaches are located on the southern coast. Ornos is a lovely, organised beach with fine sand. Located in front of a fishing village on an inlet, the beach has quiet waters, protected from the wind. Psarou is one of the island’s most popular beaches noted for its beauty and proximity to Mykonos town.
Agios Ioannis, Kapari Beaches are small, quiet Mykonos beaches, but among the most exquisite. One can enjoy a romantic sunset while admiring the view of Delos island. A must on the beach clubber’s agenda are: Paranga (approximately 6 km from the town), Paradise and Super Paradise Beaches. The bars are many, the music’s volume is loud- pumped up by some of the best DJs worldwide. An alternative to the action of these beaches are Agios Sostis and Panormos situated on the calmer, northern coast. A little out-of-the-way, down a rocky path, these beaches offer absolute tranquility.
Elia, on the south coast, has the island’s longest sandy Mykonos beach. It is a quiet, organised and preferred by lovers of nature. Kalo Livadi, a beautiful, calm beach is ideal for families.
Kalafatis, in the southeast, is a windy beach with a windsurfing centre where competitions are held. The beach offers all kinds of water sports, even scuba diving.
Lia, one of the few pebbled beaches is framed by two rocks, one on each side, and has crystal clear waters. It is predominantly a gay beach.
Condé Nast Traveller Magazine has named Kivotos Mykonos “one of the ten best beach hotels in Europe.” The hotel’s private beach is one of the loveliest on Mykonos. Just a few steps down from the main pool area, a small cove with golden sand, gentle waves and a fresh sea breeze invites you to experience the magical pleasures of the Aegean Sea. Umbrellas, sunbeds, massages on the beach and seaside services enhance nature’s perfection.
